Hickory Star

to Ansa Horse & Cattle. We are located in the undulating and picturesque area of West Gippsland. Heath Hill is situated 85 minutes south east of Melbourne. Here at Ansa, we breed quality quarter and paint performance horses and also run beef cattle.

After originally campaigning QH, Paints and Appaloosa’s in trail reining and pleasure at the local and state level, it was decided in 1992 to purchase some QH and paint mares and breed to a variety of stallions. In 2004 we moved from Pearcedale to Heath Hill and purchased our resident stallion Hickory Star (Q-32490).

For our broodmare band we have concentrated on proven bloodlines which have excelled in performance areas, particularly cutting, reining and camp drafting. Our resultant progeny have been athletes that look good, are quiet and trainable and have sold throughout Australia to NSW, QLD, WA and NT.

Our goal at Ansa is to produce superior quality versatile performance horses that are particularly suited to amateur and junior competitors in all discipline areas as well as safe recreational horses. We want to breed the true all rounder and companion horse.

At Ansa we have bred horses that have achieved success in many areas producing PHAA State Champions in western pleasure and trail and reserve halter champions. Most exciting of all we have produced a finalists from a field of 80 in the 2007 prestigious Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge. At the local level our progeny have also placed in most discipline areas.
